While we may not understand WHY gravity exists, gravity is a demonstrable physical phenomenon. Evolution is not. True, God COULD have used evolution to bring us about but He didn't. If you are a Christian you are doing your God a disservice by minimizing His creative power and strengthening His enemies' specious argument. Reply to: truthwillout Using the word theory to undermine the validity of evolution is a mistake. Gravity is "only a theory." I am a Christian through and through, but I am also a scientist and God put all of this, including the process of evolution, into motion. Evolution is all part of his design.

Genetic mutation within the species of homo sapiens has thus far had entirely NEGATIVE consequences to our original design. We are hardly "evolving" into some sort of supermen, just mutating into freaks. Reply to: truthwillout Theory, in the scientific language, means a collection of ideas explaining a collection of data. Darwin had only a small portion of the data that we have today. He knew nothing of DNA, how parents pass on genes, and that sometimes genes mutate. The data supporting evolution come from many disciplines and subjects. There is no sound data to counter the process of evolution.

[Read the title of this forum. "THE WORLD'S GREATEST BOOKS

You can nominate one, or as many as 10." Some people do not pay attention to the title of the forum and just put up any books they want to. The Bible is not even suppose to be mentioned as it is taken for granted that it is non-fiction. (my emphasis) -Mikaia]
I take offense to the fact that who ever set this forum up lumped the Bible in a Fiction catagory.
One day you will see the error of that statement - hopfully before ........ : (
Strange no mention was made about other "Holy" books (and I use that term loosely) being fiction--
makes me want to say Hummmmmm

Good post -Well done -well done. Reply to: Texas Truth Teller 09 How sad that so many people today are unaware of the SECOND most read book in history (after the Bible). I am referring to "Pilgrim's Progress". I encourage everyone who has not yet read this literary masterpiece to obtain a copy and read it for yourself. And I mean THE ORIGINAL, not one of those "watered down" versions that are out there. In order to get the full impact, as Mr. Bunyan intended, I am convinced that this must be the case.
This book has been a blessing to countless individuals in many generations (including me), as it lays out in such plain terms what it means to be "a sinner saved by grace". It's allegorical format is ideal in showing the average person in terms he/she can understand the nature of sin, the desperate plight of the sinner, the holiness of God, and his love for the sinner in sending Jesus Christ to die for our sins on the cross and save us from sin and the wrath to come in hell.
But furthermore, it magnifies the reality of the Christian life after conversion as a "warfare", where the Christian is truly a "pilgrim", travelling through this world of sin and destruction on his way to what is now his REAL home,
"the celestial city" (Heaven), and having to engage in a "war" more real than any fought with swords and spears, guns and bombs, as the Christian's "war" is spiritual! I especially appreciate how Mr. Bunyan highlights the fact that Christians have three very real enemies: the world, the devil, and the flesh, showing that it is the THIRD one that poses his greatest opposition, because the first two are limited on the extent of their influence (temptation), while the flesh (self!) is a CONSTANT threat, as you take YOU with you wherever you go!
John Bunyan shows his great insight and spiritual maturity in these matters, writing much of this great work during his imprisonment by the British "church authorities" for simply being a Christian and standing for the truth of God's word. Unlike many other books, Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress" was written from the heart of a man who had the "life authority" to authenticate what he wrote. To Bunyan, "Pilgrim's Progress" was no mere "literary work". Rather, it was his own heartfelt understanding based in hard life experience of what it means to be a ... The Science Of Health and Happiness

There is a book neglected by most of society, of a man who lived in 19th century America, who was able to cure over 12,000 people without medicine by the same science or way that Jesus did.
He wrote this science for anyone who wants to learn. The books are called: The Complete Writings (vol 1, 2, & 3), by Phineas Parkhurst Quimby.
