What should be done about America's health care system?


Vowing to overhaul the health care system, President Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress are proposing a government-run plan to compete with private insurance. Many Americans fear this will lead to nationalized health care but acknowledge something needs to be done to "fix the system." Here's your chance to weigh in. What ideas do you have for Congress?

Problem with insurance

Let me up front and say, I am against the public option in health care.
Now, one of the biggest problems, in my opinion of course, is the fact that private health insurance is not as portable as, say, life, car, or home insurance. A person who has a chronic illness can't just drop their insurance company for another because the other insurance company won't pay for his preexisting condition. This puts a huge cramp in the ability to leave one insurance company, because of exorbitant premiums, for another insurance company. There really isn't any true competition between companies. The fact insurance companies can't insure across state lines is ridiculous too.

Tort reform

Lawsuits and Lawers are somewhat to blame for the high cost of Health Insurance. Tort reform is long over due. Also, tort reform could lead to lower insurance costs.

In Pelosi's world it is nice to be an insurance company... requiring every person to contract with you. Nice to have guaranteed customers. Be a customer or go to jail.

Compulsion to contract violates the basic tenets of a free society.

The Federal government does not have the power to fund or provide for either health care or health insurance. Nor are they empowered to compel individuals to contract with a private company for the same.

The government wishes to control every aspect of our lives, even our own bodies. All to keep us 'healthy' in body and in mind, or face prison.

Healthy - by whose standard?

I will decide when I visit a doctor. I will decide which doctor to see. I will decide what is done with my body.

I will decide these for me. You decide for yourself.

Today's actions in the House of Representative are intolerable and offensive. The politicians are who should be in prison. They are violating their oaths. They are attacking us. The Federal government is acting far beyond their bounds and is ruling by force only.

I own my body.

This will split the country apart.

Yesterday (Tuesday 10/20/2009) House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that "in promoting the general welfare the Constitution obviously gives broad authority to Congress to effect that end”

The Congressman is quite seriously mistaken.

The Preamble to the Constitution:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

This means that in order to "promote the general welfare" the Constitution was established. The Constitution defines the government. If the Constitution does not grant a power to the government, the government does not have that power.

What powers are granted to the government? (the following is abbreviated to fit space constraints, please read the entire document at the Library of Congress: tinyurl.com/36dm88 )

Article. I.

Section. 1. All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

Section. 8. The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes...

borrow Money...

regulate Commerce with foreign Nations...

establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization and Bankruptcies

coin Money...

provide for Punishment of counterfeiting...

establish Post Offices and post Roads;

promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right...

constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;

define and punish Piracies...

declare War...

raise and support Armies...and Navy... and make Rules for

call forth the Militia...

provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia...

exercise exclusive Legislation...over such District... (ed: Wash. DC)

To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.


There is no power to fund or provide for either health care or health insurance! NONE! Any such government action is <U>illegal.

To believe as Mr. Hoyer does would negate the entire Constitution... anything deemed to "promote the general welfare" would be permissible. If that's the case then why even bother writing a Constitution?

Clearly, Mr. Hoyer does not understand what he swore to uphold and is unfit for office, as are most in Congress.

With usurper obama's announcement this morning, that patients with Aids are now welcome here from other countries, we can make a really educated guess as to whose health care we will be fixing. It will be hia homeland of Kenya's, and every other third world country with great numbers of Aids patients, who will send them here for "free" (to them, but not to us) treatment. We pay, they get treated.

May I summarize that everything involving the practice of medicine belongs to the states.

What you posted is so clear, even my cat understands it. Why is it that there are no legal challenges, no court action, no Supreme Court rulings or opinions that Obamacare will be unconstitutional?

Is it for the same reason that case after case requesting Barry Soetoro come clean on his birth certificate, are being shot down?

What causes a man to "sell out" when he knows better? Why aren't the supreme court justices doing their job?

Is it fear of Rahm Emmanuel? Fear or Van Jones? Fear of Bill Ayers? Fear of Chicago politics?

Are we the people EXPECTED TO fear J-ROPE (Jones, Reid, Obama, Pelosi, Emmanuel)?

Tyranny, perhaps?

Socialized (and rationed) medicine is one of his 3 key objectives in doing so.

Dude: I have some experience with people who share your feelings on this issue and speak about it in like language. I have represented them in court. I urge you, for the sake of society and yourself, to seek a meeting with a psychiatrist as soon as possible. I promise that you will feel better if you do. Until you gain some insight into yourself and your health needs you will never feel like you "belong".

You guys, along with the medical community, are the real heros of U.S. medical practices. Please allow me to attempt to clarify the progression of this issue, and I ask you to correct me as needed.

J-ROPE = Jones, Reid, Obama, Pelosi, Emmanuel. - all rabid sociopath commies!

We need to keep in mind, for the sake of this discussion, that sociopaths are incapable of any emotions except for pleasure and anger. J-ROPE are totally incapable of empathy for the welfare of patients. You and I already know that Obamacare is a death sentence for retirees and many others.

Their objective is not even close to that of healing sick patients. Their objective is a a consolidation of power to be followed by the transition to a totalitarian iron fist dictatorship. Their other big objective is to reward Mexican border jumpers, and make us pay - hence punitive.

Medical care? The J-ROPE objective is to destroy the medical infrastructure of the US. Keep in mind that the congress, J-ROPE, and all of Barry Soetoro's "czars" and their families are to be exempted from the wrath of obamacare SOCIALIZED medicine.

As I stated above, you guys are heros, for bringing to light what we all know on how to improve medical care (it doesn't need "reform") for those who are uninsured.

Things that you and I post here indicate to J-ROPE that they [J-ROPE] are right on track - they do the opposite of what we suggest.

Have any of you noticed that Obama has never spoken the words "freedom" or "liberty?" Have you noticed the number of times he uses the word "i?"

Look, I'm just an ordinary citizen, and I just want to thank you guys for all your hard work, and for keeping the fight going.

When Obamacare kicks in, folks, I'll end up getting a different kind of medical care - it's gonna be whatever is provided by the prison doctors - since I'll end up incarcerated for REFUSING THE mandatory VERI-CHIP CHIP-IMPLANT - the mark!
